If you are interested in booking the Disco Puppies for your venue or festival you should read through the requirments below.
Installation configuration
First and most importantly you must have a space that is suitable for the installation. At a minimum the space has to be large enough for three projection screens, or have three suitable surfaces to use as screens. There has to be a large space for children and parents to dance in front of the screens.
Below is a generic schematic of the installation, however Disco Puppy will be configured to suite the specific space you have. If you project Kuuki with floor plans and photos of the space thedn we can advice on the best configuration of projectors, projection surfaces and placement of sensor mats to suite your space.

Inventory
Following is an inventory of equipment and materials required for the installation. This does not include materials for public programming activities.
Computers
Disco puppies runs on three standard desktop computers below is the minimum specification:
Disco Puppy can also be configured to run on Machintosh computers if required.
Flooring
Kuuki will provide 29 sensor pads (27 for installation, 2 spare in case of damage) and 3 custom keyboard controllers. The sensor pads are robust and designed for high traffic areas and will only be damaged by sharp or very heavy objects. The sensor pads should be placed under a floor covering, large carpet or carpet tiles.
The host will need to provide and install the floor covering to meet their public health and safety guidelines.
The sensor pads are connected to keyboard controllers via cables, which do not carry high voltage or currents.
The keyboard controllers are connected to the PS2 or USB port on each computer. The cables will be installed under the floor covering.
Housing for equipment
The computers, mixing desk and keyboard controllers can be kept in a custom built box at the front of the exhibition. This box should be taller than an adult and large enough for a person, a table, and the mixing desk.
Disco lighting and accessorites
Disco lighting is an essential ingredient to create the atmosphere of a children’s disco. In addition the atmospheric effect they create, children enjoy chasing these lights around the room. A basic list would include:
The above items are the minimal set-up additional lighting can be used to enhance the atmosphere of the space. Options for obtaining disco lighting are detailed in the budget.
It is also worth considering a variety of disco decorations, accessories, mirrors for walls, and anything else that is disco and fun...
Installation
Prior to the installation Kuuki will require certain information to facilitate customisation of the Disco Puppies installation for the space where it will be installed. This includes:
Also, brand names and models of equipment to be used:
There are several aspects of the project that can be changed, such as the background images, some of the visual effects, colours and so forth. However the actual Puppy animations cannot be changed. Kuuki requires advance notice if there are any changes required. Notification of any changes should be provided no later than 8 weeks before installation.
Kuuki can design print materials, signage etc and provide these materials within an agreed timeframe before installation. Or Kuuki can also provide high resolution images for use in print materials and signage etc.
Installation setup (bump in)
Disco Puppies will take between 2 – 3 days to install and test depending on the configuration.
All objects that are to be suspended must be installed by qualified rigging staff and meet the hosts health and safty requirements. This may include ceiling mounting of data projectors, disco lights, mirror ball and motor, installation of projection screens and wall mounting of mirrors etc. The exact requirements will be confirmed in consultation with the host prior to installation once the final configuration of the installation is determined.
Kuuki staff can provide gallery staff / attendants with training on using and maintaining the installation. This would involve Kuuki staff providing a walk through the installation once it is up and running on site. This provides an opportunity for staff to familiarise themselves with the work, learn about how it was made, to meet the creators, get to know the puppies, learn how it works, and how to report faults.
Kuuki staff can work with the host on the development of public programs.
During the Installation
Kuuki is based in Brisbane, therefore telephone support will be provided for the duration of the exhibition. Kuuki will provide two mobile numbers and email addresses which staff will be able to contact if there are any problems.
Kuuki provides a standard fault reporting form for staff to complete upon the occurrence of a fault. This should be sent to Kuuki for advice on fault resolution within 24 hours.
Removing the Installation (bump out)
Kuuki staff are not required for the 'bump out'. A briefing on dismantling the installation can be provided during installation. Materials belonging to Kuuki (sensor pads, custom keyboard controllers, and possibly the disco lighting / mirror ball), would then need to be freighted to Brisbane at hosts expense.
